About the campaign

Be Nice to Brain is a Tasmania-wide project sharing the latest evidence-based information about the effect alcohol can have on the mental health and wellbeing of adults.

It was developed by the Foundation for Alcohol Research and Education (FARE) with the support of Tasmanian health professionals and communities.

Research showed:

Be Nice To Brain supports Tasmanians to cut back or cut out alcohol and improve their wellbeing.

Project Partners

Be Nice to Brain is endorsed and funded by the Tasmanian Government.

It is supported by:

We would also like to acknowledge the professional support and expertise provided by Associate Professor Shalini Arunogiri, Professor Kate Conigrave and Michael Haines.

Be Nice To Brain bases it’s guidance on alcohol use on the advice of the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC). Following a review of the latest evidence they advise healthy adults consume:

  • no more than 4 standard drinks on any one day; and
  • no more than 10 standard drinks a week.

The Guidelines also advise that the less you drink, the lower your risk of harm.
